Year 10/11 (Years 11 and 12 NI)

Our Student Recruitment Team is pleased to offer specialised advice and guidance to meet the needs of different groups of students.  Below is a summary of the various talks and workshops we offer to Year 10/11 students.

In addition to these talks we can organise group visits to our Open Days where your students can find out more about the courses we offer, view our teaching facilities and get information about finance issues and accommodation options. We can also arrange for your students to come and visit the campus at other times, perhaps to find out more about a particular subject area. The team also regularly attends HE and careers fairs in schools and colleges, so if you're arranging one, drop us a line. Whatever your HE liaison needs might be, our team is happy to help. Please note: we do not charge for these services.

Motivating Yourself for Study

  • Everyone lacks self-motivation and drive at times, but more can be achieved if your heart is in it.  This session looks at different techniques for motivating yourself to study, at preferred ways of studying and why it is worth studying hard.

Revision techniques

  • Revising for an exam is vital to achieve high marks.  We look at the importance of planning your revision, different revision methods and tips for before and at the exam.

Subject choice at university

  • A general introduction to university and discussion on the different subjects available at degree level.  Also a look at graduate careers and qualifications needed.

Student life

  • An LJMU student discusses all aspects of life at university as opposed to school, encouraging the group to give suggestions and relating anecdotes about their own university experience.

Vocational routes into HE

  • Aimed at those students who although capable, may not aspire to going on to university.  Looks at the various non-traditional routes which can be taken after GCSEs.

Introduction to Student Finance and Accommodation

  • An easy to understand introduction to tuition fees, bursaries, loans, scholarships, and budgeting.   Students will also learn about student accommodation, and the benefits and drawbacks of living both at home and away from home.

Visits to LJMU can also be arranged.
