Innovative Programmes

We provide innovative Social Enterprise Management programmes and short master class courses to build management skill capacity within the sector. This was the first major step in building a centre of excellence in Social enterprise management at LJMU.  Our Social Enterprise programmes have been commended for both our research informed teaching and the involvement international practitioners as guest speakers. We are also developing a new Foundation degree in Social Enterprise Management to develop those people working in the sector and associated organisations in the private and public sectors.

Research

Our Research team called the Sustainable Enterprise Research group is investigating the crucial areas of governance, sustainability and strategic management within the social economy (click SERG for further details). SERG also serves as editor of the prestigious Social Enterprise Journal (click SEJ to find out more). The team has presented at a number of prestigious conferences and is co-editor of a special edition of the International journal of Social Economics. The group is also currently carrying out a three-year monitoring and evaluation study looking at the impact of the Fairtrade business The Day Chocolate Company on the UK confectionery market. 

SERG is one of the partners in the EU TESES network, which aims to build and facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experiences and good practice on social entrepreneurship, click EU TESES for more information.

Consultancy

Consultancy is provided to a range of social enterprises at local, national and International level.
