Social Enterprise Management (PG Cert/PG Dip/MA)

For Social Managers across the UK

Liverpool Business School has developed the MA in Social Enterprise Management to provide students with the management skills to ensure both the long-term viability and sustainability of social enterprises. The MA Social Enterprise Management commenced in September 2001 with our first cohort of students.

The three-year MA in Social Enterprise Management has been specifically designed for part time study with all assessments work based. Successful applicants will be taught the techniques of business planning, as well as management functions such as marketing, strategic management, people management, research methods, social auditing and finance all within a social business context. The course will also focus on the development of the social economy. Attendance is part-time, allowing you to combine work with study, with one session per week (2.00pm to 8.30pm every Wednesday) for the first two years. The final year is entirely work based developing the final year dissertation. There are two semesters per year - September to December and January to April - and two modules are taught per semester. Although participants will benefit most from completing all three years of the programme, we recognise this may not be appropriate for all students.  Therefore, students who successfully complete Year 1 of the programme will receive the Certificate in Social Enterprise Management. Those who successfully complete the first two years of the programme will be awarded the Diploma in Social Enterprise Management

We welcome students who either work in the social enterprise sector or in organisations who have an interest in working alongside social enterprises and who want to develop their skill base, or from those people in the private sector who want a career change to work for an organisation with a social mission.  Applications are welcome from both graduates with at least two years' management experience and non-graduates with significant experience.  Our students come from a range of disciplines and backgrounds, with many participants returning to study following a break.

The next intake commences January 2010.  For further details and an application form contact?
