French Exchange Programme

LJMU are pleased to be working with the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) to provide the above scheme for its PGCE students.

The idea is to pair selected trainees with Modern Language trainees (French specialists) and send them as a pair to partner schools. As well as developing their own subject expertise, the Modern Language trainee will work with the trainee in the other subject so the capability in teaching that subject in the target language (French) may be developed.

During phase 2B, the pairs will spend 4 weeks in secondary schools in Rennes, Brittany, where the Modern Languages trainee will support the other trainee in teaching their specialist subject in French. There may also be further opportunities to teach in English.

Requirements

  • PGCE Student at Liverpool John Moores University
  • A Level French (or equivalent)
  • Prior School Experience (for example, Student Associates Scheme)
  • Need to be available for the four week placement
