GCSE
If you don't have the necessary GCSE grades to start your teacher training, click here for more information about LJMU's GCSE Equivalence Tests.
Please note: No matter which teacher training course you choose to apply for, you will need your GCSE grades prior to the start of the course. Some courses will also require these prior to application.
School Experience
We would normally expect all applicants applying for a PGCE to have gained at least 2 weeks relevant school experience before applying, or be the process of securing this experience.
For PE and Early Years, we would expect applicants to secure significantly more school experience than the minimum 2 weeks.
Student Associates Scheme
Many institutions will be part of a Student Associates Scheme (SAS) which allows students to gain School Experience before applying for their PGCE.
Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool Hope University and the University of Liverpool are all part of the Liverpool Student Associates Scheme.
LJMU will guarantee (subject to conditions being met) SAS participants from any SAS scheme an interview for its shortage subject PGCEs; for more information, please click here.
