The Byrom Street campus is located in the heart of Liverpool and has excellent transport links via road, rail and air. The Psychology section of the school is based in the Tom Reilly Building, which is situated behind the white security lodge at the north end of the campus. Natural Sciences can be found in the James Parsons Building.

    From the North

    Take the M58 exit sign-posted Skelmersdale/Liverpool/Southport. Bear left at A577/M58 then bear left at M58 and head toward Skelmersdale/Liverpool/Southport. Bear left at A59 and follow the signs for the City Centre. On passing the entrance to the Wallasey Tunnel, move into the left hand lane. The entrance to the James Parsons (Byrom Street) building is approximately 400 metres on your left hand side.

    From the South

    From the M6 take the M62 exit sign-posted Liverpool/North West. Follow the M62 to Liverpool City Centre (A5047). Travel 3 miles passing McDonalds and Marconi on the left. For 2 more miles continue to follow City Centre / Albert Dock signs. At the end of the main road filter right following Albert Dock and City Centre. Signs now show JM University (Byrom Street) - you are in Hall Lane. Pass large grey building on the left (Royal Liverpool University Hospital). Go straight across lights and swing left downhill (Islington). Follow JM University signs (Office World is on your right). After BP Garage on left start moving into right hand lane. At the main junction with IMO car wash on your left, turn right (St Anne St). Travel about 1 mile into residential area then, shortly after BUDJET turn left into Wilbraham Street. At the bottom of Wilbraham Street turn left onto main road. Quickly move into middle lane avoiding tunnel filter to left. Travel about half a mile; JMU Byrom Street campus is the large building with distinctive white security lodge on the left.

    From the East

    From the M62, follow directions as per travelling from the South, above.

    Local Directions

    From Wirral (Birkenhead Tunnel)

    From the A41, emerge from tunnel onto roundabout and turn left. Continue straight ahead, taking right hand lane approaching third set of traffic lights. Perform a U-turn manoeuvre approximately 50 metres after the traffic lights. The entrance to the James Parsons (Byrom Street) building is on your left hand side after about 150 metres. From Wirral (Wallasey Tunnel) Take the M53 exit from tunnel following signs for City Centre. Emerge onto Scotland Road and stay in left hand lane. The entrance to the James Parsons (Byrom Street) building is approximately 400 metres on your left hand side.

  • Travelling by Rail


    The nearest station for InterCity, Regional Railways and Arriva Merseyrail Electrics is Liverpool Lime Street. Take escalator from Lime Street InterCity station towards Lime Street (low level) Merseyrail station. Continue past Merseyrail entrance and emerge from subway (exit is up steps, ahead). Turn right. Advance 100 metres, turn right again, up steps and cut diagonally across St John's Gardens. Walk round the bottom end of the row of buildings, which is ahead of you (Liverpool World Museum and Walker Art Gallery). Go up and over aerial walkway that crosses dual carriageway. The James Parsons (Byrom Street) building is in front of you.

  • Travelling By Air


    International Visitors have the option of using either Liverpool John Lennon Airport of Manchester International Airport.
    Nearest Airport : Liverpool John Lennon Airport ,Speke (25 mins by road)

    Easyjet offer inexpensive flights from a number of locations direct to Liverpool John Lennon Airport. From there the journey to the James Parsons Building is a 15 minute taxi ride. Alternatively the number 80 bus goes into the city centre.
