Almyra Oveta Fuller (1955-present)
- Fuller obtained her PhD in microbiology and immunology in 1983 from the University of North Carolina.
- Her work focuses on the molecular mechanism of how viruses enter cells and further pathogenesis in viruses.
- A Methodist pastor, she designed the Trusted Messenger Intervention (TMI) to use religious leaders in Zambia and the US to educate on HIV/AIDS and its impact in communities.
- In 1998, she was awarded the ‘Woman of the Year in Human Relations’, by the University of Michigan Women of Colour Task Force.
- In 2005, she received the Robert Smith Humanitarian Award for her Community Service.
