Alyse Coates
- Coates has a Masters degree and PhD in Engineering. In the second year of her PhD, she was diagnosed as dyslexic.
- Throughout her time in school, she had struggled with maths and spelling but worked around her difficulties to the point where people wouldn’t notice anymore.
- Coates is now an Electromagnetic Compatibility specialist at Rolls-Royce.
- She helped create the Trent XWB engines which power the Airbus A350.
- Her role at Rolls-Royce includes analysing and testing the electrical units that make up the control systems of jet engines.
- Coates has Chartered Engineer Status, recognising her expertise in the field.
