Higher Education Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised training course that teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill-health and provide help on a first aid basis.

Learning takes place through a mix of group activities, presentations, and discussions. The course is designed to give you:

  • A deeper understanding of student and staff mental health

  • Practical skills to spot the early signs of mental ill-health

  • Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress

  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening

  • Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to appropriate support

Please Note: To achieve the accredited certificate there is a requirement to attend the full day.  If there is a cohort of less than eight then the session will be cancelled.
