Group shot - Legal Advice Centre

Legal Advice Centre

Our School of Law runs a Legal Advice Centre open to members of the public, staff and students.

As a modern, civic university we aim to equip our students with the practical legal skills they will need in the future and also to help improve access to justice in the local community by providing free legal advice.

Run by student volunteers from LJMU’s School of Law, and supervised by volunteer solicitors from leading Liverpool law firms, the Centre advises on cases involving family law, civil litigation, employment law and wills and administration – it’s open to students, staff and the general public.

Foundation for Citizenship

We are proud to be a part of the University‚Äôs Foundation for Citizenship. We are a member and regular contributor to the Access to Justice and General Committees of the Liverpool Law Society, and work collaboratively with law clinics across the North West and UK. The Legal Advice Centre (LAC) was shortlisted in 2015 for the LawWorks & Attorney General Student Pro Bono Awards in two categories (Best Contribution by a Law School and Best New Student Pro Bono activity), just a few months after being established by Rachel Stalker.

The LAC is a member of the UK Clinical Legal Education Organisation, the European Network of Legal Education and the Global Alliance for Justice Education.

We currently advise on cases involving:

  • Family law
  • Employment law
  • Civil litigation
  • Wills & Administration

We can also assist you at court with civil and family matters.
