Helping students reach their full potential
Meet some of the people working and teaching in the Astrophysics Research Institute.
Researchers in the Institute are involved in many major international observational survey projects. Institute staff led the development of the ASTRONET Infrastructure Roadmap for the future of European astronomy and they regularly serve on national and international committees and panels of the Research Councils and other bodies.
Staff are involved in many outreach projects for both the general public and schoolchildren, with a dedicated team working on the National Schools' Observatory project.
Recently some of the team at the Institute were involved in the creation of a winning garden at the 2015 RHS Chelsea Flower Show. They joined up with horticulturalists, construction experts and an architect to create the Dark Matter Garden to help explain major workings of the Universe. The garden received a Gold Award in the Fresh Gardens category.
