Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (Restricted) (STCW A-VI/2)

Duration: Three days

Prerequisites:

  1. At least 18 years of age
  2. MCA approved Proficiency Personal Techniques (STCW A-VI/1-1) or its Updating course certificate
  3. At least 6 months approved seagoing service
  4. Valid medical fitness certificate recognised by the MCA such as ENG1 or equivalent and/or completion of medical declaration to assess fitness to undertake training

Accreditation/Approvals: MCA as per MIN 533 (M)

Overviews: The MCA published the MIN 533 (M) – Changes to Advanced Sea Survival Course for Yachtsmen to align the Advanced sea survival course for yachtsmen to the STCW Code Regulation VI/2, using the provisions of Article IX of the STCW Convention and Code 1978. This course is now therefore compliant with the STCW requirements and can be undertaken by those employed on vessels NOT fitted with traditional lifeboats.
