Maritime Knowledge Hub

We are one of several core partners in the Maritime Knowledge Hub alongside Mersey Maritime, Wirral Council and Peel Ports.

The key elements of the Hub are a:

  • Maritime Business and Technology Incubator to support start-up SMEs in commercialising new technology and existing SMEs to incorporate new technology into their products, processes or services, or in the development of a new product, process or service with a customer
  • Maritime Industries Centre to support the management, networking and stakeholder engagement activities of Mersey Maritime with business access to LJMU alongside other Knowledge Hub partners
  • Marine Education and Training Centre to develop global quality specialist education and training programmes. This will draw on the research base of the knowledge partners and the close relationship with the maritime industries. The Centre will be supported by a commercial offshore training centre and a Marine and engineering simulation training centre.

Phase one of the Maritime Knowledge Hub, operated jointly with Mersey Maritime, includes a 360 degree ship-handling simulator as well as business networking and conferencing facilities. The Maritime Knowledge Hub is gearing up to be a global centre of excellence within the UK, generating knowledge-led growth and innovation.
