Clearing stories: Oghenefe

Two drones on a table

Results day came and I saw I hadn't gotten into my insurance choice or Firm choice on UCAS. As I made my way to college to collect my results I started making a list of universities to call – LJMU was one of them... and the rest is history!

I called the University while I was on the bus from college, explaining how I didn't make my grades: they offered me a conditional place which I later confirmed. I had already secured a pre-university engineering placement before results day, so after getting my place I asked if it could be deferred for one year, which it was.

I've made lots of wonderful friends, I'm starting an electronics society and Liverpool is just a friendly city to be a student in.

The staff in my department are fantastic and very supportive, approachable and readily available to help students – so LJMU was definitely the right choice for me.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

I was worried I wouldn't get into a university to study the course I wanted to do; I was worried about going to a university I hadn't visited before or even thought about. My advice would be to visit a number of back-up universities before results day, just to be better prepared, and worry less and trust the process! Life has a way of working itself out.
