Clearing stories: Daniel

The bright atrium of the multi-floored LJMU Redmonds Building

I had a tricky exam period with some family problems, and losing my grandad over that period meant that I messed my exams up and didn't quite get the results I was expecting. I rang the LJMU Clearing line and was put through to somebody after a short wait. They were great and explained the situation and about checking my details etc. It was kept really simple and that was the best thing, as it's easy to get confused on such a hectic day.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Go for it and make the most out of your time at University: it's over far too quick. Any initial fears I had were squashed within the first week after meeting the staff and new friends. I'd maybe say go to the library a little bit more (maybe) and get involved more with sports and societies. They can be a big part of university and can make your experience even better.

After hearing stories from friends at different universities I think LJMU was perfect for me!

The staff are all great and there to help whenever needed, even beyond educational things.

Daniel's top 3 tips for Clearing:

1. Don't get stressed!

2. Have some paperwork ready, UCAS points/numbers and that kind of stuff – makes it easier over the phone and helps with point 1

3. Don't worry: everything happens for a reason and all that... At first I was worried about not getting onto the course I originally thought of but having gone through Clearing and to LJMU my university experience couldn't have been better.
