Mark Power

Registrar and Deputy Chief Executive

Mark has overarching responsibility for the Student and Academic Services Division providing all of the student-facing services for the University.  

The Division comprises:            

  • Academic Registry            
  • IT Services            
  • Library Services 
  • Marketing            
  • Student Advice and Wellbeing            
  • Student Recruitment and Admissions
  • Teaching and Learning Academy
  • World of Work Careers Centre  

Mark is a member of the Strategic Management Team of the University and attends Academic Board and the Board of Governors. Mark chairs the Academic Planning Panel and is a member of the following groups:

  • Academic Framework Project Group
  • Education Committee          
  • Estates Committee
  • International Policy Committee
  • Recruitment Policy Committee  

Mark’s external activities include:            

  • Director of St Francis Xavier Academy            
  • Member of the Association of Heads of University Administration  

Short biography 

Mark Power studied Fine Art at the Lancaster College of Art and obtained a BA (Hons) in1981. He joined the Fine Art Department at Liverpool Polytechnic in 1981 and continued to exhibit nationally including shows at the Bluecoat Gallery, the Walker Art Gallery Liverpool and the Mall Gallery, London. He was a founder member of the Liverpool Artists Workshop.  

Mark chaired the Digital Academic Records Exchange (DARE) JISC funded project  

He was appointed Divisional Secretary at Liverpool John Moores University in 1996 and the Director of Academic Planning in 2002. In 2000 he completed an MBA at Liverpool John Moores University. In 2010 he was appointed Director of Planning and Information and in 2012 he was appointed as University Registrar and Deputy Chief Executive.
