Biography

I am interested in how buildings and the built environment can be better designed in response to environmental and sustainability criteria and in the methods, models and information that enable building designers to do this.
I joined LJMU as Senior Lecturer in Environmental Design in January 2015, with qualifications in architecture and engineering. I have developed and led masters and doctoral programmes in environmental architecture and sustainability at the University of East London and the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales, and obtained funded research and design consultancies.

Specific research interests include;
• Design methods and tools for low energy / low carbon buildings
• User oriented building simulation software
• Buildings and climate change
• Low environmental impact housing
• Performance of ecological building materials

I have used a wide variety of quantitative and qualitative research methods in interdisciplinary research, and welcome PhD supervision related to the environmental and ecological design and performance of buildings.
