As a member of the Initial Teacher Education in the School of Education at Liverpool John Moores University, I have responsibility for the Foundation Studies programme on the Undergraduate programme leading to Qualified Teacher Status at Primary. I teach on all Primary Programmes including School Direct Programmes and am module leader for both Foundation Studies in Y1 and Y2
I am a former Primary Teacher and gained both my BA QTS and PG Cert in SEN from Edge Hill University. I have worked across the key stages in schools here in Liverpool, Wirral and in Australia and have been a Deputy Head and SENCO.
My school-based experience includes a secondment working for Wirral LA as a recruitment and Well-being coordinator working in Wirral schools. I then became an associate consultant for The Teacher Support Network working with various LAs around the country.
My current research interest is in using Philosophy for Children as a way of Children and young adults developing a sense of self. I have a level 1 and level 2 qualification in P4C.
My other research interests include looking at ITT from a male perspective and looking at support systems for the retention of male trainees in ITT
