Prof Carlo Panara

Biography

Carlo is Professor of Comparative Public Law. He joined Liverpool John Moores University in January 2010, after teaching at the University of Hull (2006-09) and at the University of Perugia, Italy (2001-06). He is Research and REF2021 Co-ordinator for the School of Law. He leads the School of Law's postgraduate research programmes. Since 2015 he chairs the Faculty Research Degrees Committee for the Faculty of Arts, Professional and Social Studies. From January 2014 to the end of June 2015 Carlo was a Senior Research Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the University of Tubingen, Germany. Carlo is the author of two monographs and of a number of journal articles and of other publications in several languages in the field of EU Law and Comparative Public Law. Carlo's areas of interest are multi-level governance in the EU and the identity of the EU as a global actor. Carlo's more recent research is concerned with lobbying in the EU and particularly with the role of the European (Brussels based) offices of the English local authorities (British Academy/Leverhulme Trust funded project 2016-17). Since September 2016 Carlo leads the interdisciplinary LJMU Research Network "Geopolitics, Law and International Relations".
