James studied at the University of Liverpool, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in politics and a master’s degree in public administration.
He spent the early part of his career working in advertising (Millward Brown/WPP) and retail (GUS, Bunzl) before choosing to study to become a solicitor (Hill Dickinson LLP, DSL). He is a Director of Liverpool Law Society, having previously chaired its Environmental Law Committee and its Training Committee.
James is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Law (Faculty of Arts and Professional Studies) and contributes to the teaching teams for Business Law & Practice, Tax, Employment, Professional Conduct and Professional Skills.
