James studied at the University of Liverpool, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in politics and a master’s degree in public administration.
He spent the early part of his career working in advertising (Millward Brown International/WPP plc) and retail (GUS plc; Bunzl plc) before studying to become a solicitor (Hill Dickinson LLP; DSL). He is a Director of Liverpool Law Society and chairs its Access to Justice Committee, having previously chaired the Environmental Law Committee and the Training Committee. James is a practising solicitor.
James is Senior Lecturer in the School of Law (Faculty of Business) and contributes to the teaching teams for Business Law & Practice, Tax, Employment, Professional Conduct and Professional Skills.
