Biography

Biography: After a career teaching law to both law and built environment undergraduates, Leigh studied for the LPC here at LJMU while training in private practice. Leigh qualified as a solicitor in 1997. Post qualification, she worked as an in house lawyer for a television production company and in private practice in housing litigation. Leigh was appointed senior lecturer in May 2004 but continues to have involvement with housing and mental health organisations.

On the LPC, Leigh is subject leader for Practical Legal Research and joint subject leader for Business Law and Practice. She is also part of the teaching teams for Civil Litigation, Housing and Interviewing & Advising. On the LLM in QL, Leigh is subject leader of Legal Research and Public Law. On the LLB, Leigh is module leader of Law and the Vulnerable Person and a member of the Public Law team.

Leigh has completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in Learning & Teaching in Higher Education and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Leigh also has an LLM in Legal Practice from LJMU and an MA in Socio-Legal Studies from the University of Sheffield. Leigh has a PhD from the University of York. Her thesis was on her principal research interest: Anti-social behaviour, mental health and equality law in the context of social housing
