I joined Liverpool John Moores University in 2013 following 20 years in clinical practice most of which were spent working in Specialist Palliative Care. I currently run 2 palliative care modules one at level 6 and one at level 7 and have a particular interest in the communication skills required to manage distressing situations. I am the module leader for the second year skills module for the Adult Nursing Programme and work closely with Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital and Liverpool Marie Curie Hospice as Academic Link Lecturer.
Before taking up this post I had a particular interest in mentoring specifically that related to NMC standards and undertook a piece of research exploring the impact of the 'sign-off mentor' in the acute setting.
