I started my teaching career in 1978 teaching French across the secondary school age range. In the late eighties, disgruntled with the state of modern languages in the UK I made a career change and retrained as a teacher of children with special educational needs. I worked in the SEN sector for 12 years before taking a post here at LJMU in 2005. Here I have been involved in teaching on the Masters programme in SEN both here and in Greece.
