Dr Raymond Abdulai

Biography

Raymond joined Liverpool John Moores University in December 2008 as a lecturer in real estate, having previously worked at Wolverhampton University in the UK as a postdoctoral research fellow and lecturer in real estate. He lectured and practised in Ghana before commencing his academic career in the UK. He is an international real estate expert and his research interests span various facets of real estate including: real estate development, economics, management, finance, investment and valuation; emerging real estate markets; and property rights issues. Raymond has published extensively in these areas and participated in RAE 2008 and REF 2014. He has served as track chair, keynote speaker, session chair, discussant, panellist, and Member of Scientific Review Committees for various international conferences. He has successfully: (a) supervised eight PhD and two MPhil students and currently involved in the supervision of four PhD students; (b) examined 10 PhD students; and (c) examined seven students transferring from MPhil to PhD.

Raymond is the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of International Real Estate and Construction Studies, indexed in Cabell’s Directory of Publishing Opportunities in Economics and Finance. He is a reviewer of 10 international academic journals - for example, International Development Planning Review, International Planning Studies, Habitat International, Journal of Housing and the Built Environment and African Review of Economics and Finance; he also reviews text book proposals for publishers and serves on the editorial boards of three international journals. He has won various international awards from, for example, Cambridge University, Department for International Development and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Education Trust.

Raymond is Member of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS), Member of Ghana Institution of Surveyors (MGhIS) , Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Fellow of Cambridge Commonwealth Society, Member of American Real Estate Society, Member of Lincoln Institute of Land Policy and Member of Commonwealth Association of Surveying and Land Economy.
