Spencer currently is a Senior Lecturer in “Architectural Technology” within the School of the Built Environment with approximately 25 years experience within the field of Architecture and Construction. He is also the schools Chartered member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Architectural Technologists which leads the technological design within Architecture, concept, innovation and reality.
Spencer started his architectural studies at the age of 17 as a trainee Architectural technician with Liverpool City Architects, becoming a grade 4 architectural technician within the department. Then studied Architecture at John Moore’s University, then later Leeds Met. Prior to his appointment at John Moore’s university his past business experience involved immersing himself in the management of running his own Architectural consultancy business. Previous to this he worked at RaidDesign Architects, an established architectural practice in Liverpool where he was appointed design team leader. Spencer constantly integrates his professional experience and knowledge within the Construction industry to construct a more aligned learning experience for the Built Environment Students at LJMU
He is also module leader for the HNC & HND (Building Surveying) Design procedures courses, and will this year be introducing and teaching a new Masters module entitled MA ‘Urban design’ in the Built environment for the University. He is also highly specialised within digital imaging and deliver lectures and training on the full suite of Autodesk digital imaging programmes and specifically the interoperability between them including, the underpinnings of BIM, which include Revit, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Architecture (2D/3D modelling), 3ds Max (Rendering) and Photoshop.
Within his current role, he is the “Architectural Technology Industry liaison” & Enterprise Champion, for the Dept. He is an active participant in the University’s (BEST ‘Built Environment Sustainable Technologies’) Research group & Low Carbon Innovation Hub.
