Biography

Dr Yongqiang Qiu is a Lecturer in Sensor Technologies at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Liverpool John Moores University. He received the BEng degree from Tianjin University, China, and both MSc and PhD degrees from University of Dundee, UK. Prior to joining the LJMU, he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Dundee, Research Associate at the University of Glasgow, and Visiting Scholar at the Pennsylvania State University, USA.

His primary research focus is to develop ultrasonic devices for a range of biomedical and industrial applications. Particularly, he is developing miniature ultrasound transducer arrays for high-resolution imaging of tissues and acoustic manipulation of microparticles and cells. He is also exploring large-scale fabrication methods and processes, such as nanofabrication, screen-printing and 3D printing techniques, for the manufacture of ultrasonic transducers and sensors with ultra-high element density and IC integration compatibility.

He is a member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and a peer reviewer for journals: Ultrasonics, Sensors, Biosensors, Sensors & Actuators: A. Physical, PLOS ONE, Micromachines, IEEE TUFFC, etc.
