Biography

Glynn Rothwell completed an engineering apprenticeship with British Nuclear Fuels in 1980. He received his BSc Degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology in 1983. He subsequently returned to BNFL as a design engineer involved in the design and construction of the THORP reprocessing plant at Sellafield.

In 1991 Glynn was appointed as a senior lecturer in mechanical engineering at Liverpool John Moores University. He received his PhD from LJMU in 2003 for a thesis entitled “Fracture Toughness Determination Using Constraint Enhanced Sub-Sized Specimens”. His current position is Subject Head for Mechanical Engineering.

Glynn is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
