Biography

Yun Sheng is a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Surrey‚ U.K. During his PhD study he took part in the EU FP6 project VISNET‚ working on WP1.1 Audiovisual Object Modelling for Animation as a student member‚ and was subsequently promoted to research fellow with the I-Lab‚ Centre for Communication Systems Research. In 2006‚ he joined the Media Technology Research Centre‚ Department of Computer Science‚ University of Bath‚ working on the EPSRC project‚ Efficient Geometry Parameterisation for Modelling and Animation as a post-doctoral research officer with Prof. Phil Willis, past chair of Eurographics. In 2009, he relocated to Singapore pursuing his research interest in Partial Differential Equations in computer graphics applications as a research fellow at the Nanyang Technological University before he took an associate professorship of Computer Science at the East China Normal University, Shanghai in 2011. He joint the Department of Computer Science, LJMU in 2019.

Yun is an awardee of Platinum Best Paper of the International Conference on Multimedia and Expo 2018 (ICME'18), a leading conference of IEEE in Multimedia, and a programme committee member of Computer Graphics International (CGI'18, CGI'19, CGI'20) and International Symposium on Visual Computing (ISVC'18, ISVC'19). He has also been regularly serving as a peer reviewer in a number of international conferences and journals‚ as well as both international and domestic funding bodies. His current research interests cover a wide spectrum of hotspots in digital media, computer graphics and vision, including 3D modelling and animation‚ geometric mesh processing‚ shape analysis‚ non-photorealistic rendering, etc.
