John Carrier

School of Engineering

John Carrier has held an academic post at LJMU since January 2007 and for much of this period has been heavily involved in managing the Mechanical Engineering undergraduate programmes . As programme leader I spend a significant amount of time organising the operation of the programme as well as liaising and supporting students on a day to day basis. I also teach on the courses at all academic levels, particularly in the subject area of Thermodynamics.

Before joining LJMU I completed a Marine Engineering Officers Cadetship and after qualifying spent 10 years at sea as Engineering Officer in large container ship sailing world wide and as an engineer in the North Sea oil and gas sector. Since completing my BEng degree in Plant Engineering I have been an active member of the LJMU academic community with particular focus on supporting and teaching Mechanical Engineering students through their programme of study.
