I am Lecturer in Marine and Offshore Engineering, and a member of Liverpool Logistics, Offshore and Marine (LOOM) research centre. My expertise is in the field of fluid-structure interaction using experimental and numerical (CFD) simulations. It is my mission to contribute to and promote CO2 emission reduction in the ocean environment. To this end, I am involved in several research projects in drag reduction technologies for merchant vessels and renewable energy technologies.
In my current role, I deliver Offshore Engineering module at postgraduate level, Ship Construction and Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture to undergraduates. In addition to my teaching duties, I am a co-investigator in European EPSRC project ArcWind, which is investigating the development of floating offshore wind turbines for France, Portugal and the UK. Currently, I am conducting two research projects which are pursuing to diminish merchant vessels' water resistance trough reducing skin friction. I am also experienced in upstream and downstream sectors which provides me with a firm understanding of offshore and marine industries.
Currently, I am looking for motivated candidates to undertake PhD studies in:
• Interaction between Offshore wind turbines and Crew Transfer Vessels (CTV)
• Dynamics of floating structures
• Hydrodynamics of floating structures
• Drag reduction through alteration of boundary layer
A full scholarship is available for home and EU students, and partial funding for exceptional overseas candidates. The project is still ongoing and provided a fantastic learning opportunity for the mentee. Unfortunately, the aim has proven more challenging than initially anticipated. Modelling the turbulence and the eddy flow generated by roughness on surfaces with complex geometry was especially challenging.
