Prof Justin Thomas

School of Psychology

Justin is interested in mental health, from psychological wellbeing to illbeing (psychopathology). He spent over a decade living and working in the Middle East, where he also became increasingly interested in how religion, culture and social change impact mental health. Additionally, Justin has a longstanding fascination with digital technology, the development and use of. He is the inventor of Anamorphic Micro ™, a computerized body image assessment technique used in the treatment and assessment of eating disorders. In recent years Justin’s interests – culture, tech and psychopathology - have converged, with a strand of his research now devoted to exploring how digital technologies impact mental health, from enhancing digital wellbeing to preventing cyber-psychopathology.
