The main aim of my research is to investigate the performance of participants with dyslexia in both opaque (English) and transparent (Italian) orthographies on various reading and non-reading visual and phonological tasks with a view to establishing a different manifestation of dyslexia in these two samples. The aim is to test the hypothesis that Italian and English children with developmental dyslexia might be characterised by different patterns of strengths and weaknesses in phonological and visual domains.
The novelty of this project is to align neurocognitive experimental paradigms in adults with acquired disorders of reading with individual differences research in a developmental disorders population. the profile of each participant will be also evaluated, to capture individual differences.
