Biography

Alex is a lecturer in Animal Behaviour, focusing on primate behaviour and ecology. He has worked in West and East Africa, currently co-directing the Ugalla Primate Project, based in western Tanzania. His specific interests centre on primate vocalisation behaviour and overall primate adaptations to a savanna-woodland environment, and, with Fiona Stewart (University of Cambridge) serves as a scientific advisor and consultant for ongoing conservation activities in the Greater Mahale Ecosystem of western Tanzania to prioritise areas for chimpanzee conservation.
