Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Sciences in the School of Natural Sciences and Psychology. My research expertise is in biogeochemistry specializing in the origin, transformations and fate of organic matter in natural systems. I teach mainly on the BSc Geography and Wildlife Conservation Programmes offered by the School of Natural Sciences and Psychology.

My research interests are in:
Carbon cycling
Biological carbon pump
Biogeochemical impact and ecological significance of underwater topographies (e.g. submarine canyons, seamounts)
Marine ecosystem functioning
Cold water corals
Chemical proxies in environmental change
Marine pollution (microplastics)
Biogeochemistry of salt marshes

I am currently supervising 2 PhD students as a Director of Studies and 3 PhD students as a co-supervisor.on subjects related to my research interests.
