Dr Margarita Mulero Pazmany

School of Biological and Environmental Sciences

Margarita Mulero Pazmany studied Biology in Univ. Complutense de Madrid and an MBA in Univ. Pablo de Olavide, Spain. In 2008 she joined Doñana Biological Station (Spanish Council for Scientific Research -CSIC) to work on the use of drones for Conservation Biology, the topic of her PhD, obtained in 2015 at Univ. of Seville, Spain. She worked as a post-doc at the Swiss Ornithological Institute (Vogelwarte) and Univ. Técnica Particular de Loja (Ecuador). In 2015 she joined University of Cádiz (Spain), where she teaches on the postgraduate course “Specialist on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (RPAS) and their civil applications”.

Besides research, Margarita has spent some years working in wildlife management in MIGRES Foundation; for the Andalusian Environmental Agency with the endangered Spanish Imperial Eagle (Aquila adalberti); doing consultant work for private companies (Chavarra SL, E-Building); and she is the founder of a sustainable tourism company (Localplan.es).
She joined Liverpool John Moores University (UK) as a Lecturer in UAV applications in Natural Sciences in 2018. Updates on her work can also be found on: http://margaritamulero.wixsite.com/margaritamulero

Margarita research focuses in conservation biology. She uses new technologies, mainly Unmanned Aircraft Systems (drones), and more recently, Internet of Things, for wildlife research and management: spatial ecology, epidemiology, infrastructures impact assessment, pollution and anti-poaching. She also works on non-technology related topics such as road ecology, habitat fragmentation and tourism effects on wildlife populations. She conducts most of her fieldwork in Doñana National Park (Southwestern Spain) and protected areas such as Kruger NP and Hluhluwe-iMfolozi in South Africa.
