Alastair Balchin is Associate Dean (Global Engagement) for Liverpool Business School and reports to the Dean of Liverpool Business School and to the University's Pro-Vice Chancellor External Engagement, encompassing all aspects of international partnerships.

Originally appointed as the associate director of school, he has been involved in leadership positions for the MBA programmes for most of his 20 years with Liverpool Business School.

Alastair's professional and management experience is mainly in aviation with the Royal Air Force and a busy regional airport. He holds a MBA from the University of Durham and a BSc Economics from the University of Hull. He teaches Operations Management and Project Management on the MBA programmes and the aviation contribution to a BSc Transport and Logistics in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. He has qualified in aviation safety, project management, quality management and risk assessment. He is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

He is a member of the School's Management Team, the Faculty Quality Committee and the University Safety Committee. He is the External Examiner for the full-time MBA programmes at the University of Central Lancashire.
