Jan worked in a number of Liverpool Secondary Schools across the City teaching Science and Chemistry from 1980 until 1999. Following her appointment as senior lecturer in Science Education her main focus moved to teaching primary science with a particular research focus on transition from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3. Her resulting work included writing the pilot Key Stage 3 Science Strategy materials for the DfE and subsequent Local Authority CPD delivery and writing of Science texts for schools. Working as partnership co-ordinator, subject leader and, more latterly, as Director of Teacher Education has led to an expertise in the range of ITT routes into teaching.
In September 2016 she took up the post of Director Strategic Partnership Initiatives in the Vice Chancellor's office developing, supporting and enhancing partnerships with a range of stakeholders - internally and externally.
