Andrew attended Nottingham University between 1966 to 1969 graduating with a BA Law (2.1).
From September 1970 to November 1972 Andrew was in the Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), an English Language Teacher in Indonesian State Tin Company, Islands of Bangka and Belitung.
From November 1972 to 1974 Andrew completed his Articles at Alsop Stevens Batesons (now amalgamated with DLA Piper).
From June 1975 to 2012 he was a Solicitor and Partner (from 1977) with Jackson & Canter Solicitors Liverpool. He has been a Senior Partner since 1994 and managing partner from 2008. He is now a Director since incorporation in 2012. The firm is a general legal practice and human rights firm with a wide range of personal client work serving those most disadvantaged in the community. The firm has prided itself on providing quality legal services and was awarded Investor in People in 1997, the Law Society Lexcel quality mark in 1999 and Customer Service Excellence in 2014.
He was awarded an OBE for services to publicly funded Legal Work in Liverpool in June 2003 and a CBE for services to Administration of Justice in December 2008.
Andrew was President of the Liverpool Law Society 1993/9, Chair of the Standards Board of the Law Society of England and Wales 2002-2005, Deputy Vice President of the Law Society by the Council in 2005/06, Vice President 2006/07 and President 2007/08.
He is married to Caroline, a Retired Teacher, and has two daughters Emma and Clare and a grandson Aidan. He enjoys classical music, golf and the countryside, and supports Everton Football Club.
