Terry Dray

We have developed a unique method of delivering career development services that are co-developed and co-delivered with employers and integrated into the curriculum.

Thanks to this truly embedded approach, and expertly delivered careers information, advice and guidance delivered in Careers Zones by professional Employability Advisers and Careers Advisers, we have seen a steady improvement in graduates obtaining professional and managerial jobs.

We organise work related learning opportunities that are offered to every student through placements, hundreds of fully funded internships, employer lectures, industry projects, and giving students the experience of working on real world research projects.

We have bespoke School-focused Career Planning Guides for every student and access to 24/7 career support via our online Careers Zone 24/7 that provides access to a CV builder and interview simulator, e-guidance service and the ‘My Jobs and Placements’ vacancy site with hundreds of opportunities advertised each month. The Careers Centre website also includes subject-specific career insights, career profiles, employer videos and international opportunities.

We also provide a time and talent route for students who have graduated from LJMU – our alumni – to return to the University to share their experience with current students and if possible provide mentoring advice and even internships. We believe there is no better way of building professional networks than learning from those who have gone before and our talented alumni are extremely generous in sharing their experience and their time with our student community.
