World of Work programme

All our students are actively encouraged to take their work-related skills up to a higher-level with our ‘World of Work’ skills programme.

We are confident that these are the skills that top companies are looking for in graduate employees because the World of Work Programme is endorsed by FTSE 100 companies and leading business organisations, including Airbus, CBI, Ford Europe, NHS, GKN Aerospace, Marks and Spencer, Siemens and Sony. No other university, either in the UK or internationally, offers students the chance to develop these World of Work skills.

Representatives from a further 100+ organisations and businesses across the North West of England are giving our students vital experience of how to succeed in graduate-entry level interviews. This is the final stage of our unique World of Work Programme and crucially it is these employers who will judge whether or not you have reached the necessary standards to receive your additional World of Work Skills Certificate.

With such valuable employer input LJMU is confident that our degrees meet the demands of today’s employers for highly skilled graduates. Employers are clearly impressed with the calibre of our students and graduates; over 700 have already signed up to LJMU’s new vacancy website, a one-stop-shop for students looking for part-time work, graduate jobs, work placements and much more.

Armed with this experience plus detailed feedback from employers working in your target sector, you are more likely to get on the professional career ladder faster than students graduating with just a conventional university degree.
