Funding and fees for teacher training students
If you're a trainee teacher there are a number of funding options that might be available to you
As a student on a PGDE course, you’ll be funded in the same way as an undergraduate. This means you can apply for a non-means tested student loan to cover your tuition fees.
Value: Up to £30,000
As well as the funding listed above, you may be eligible for a teacher training bursary of up to £30,000 (tax-free). The availability of this bursary and its value is dependent on your degree classification and the subject you plan to teach in.
You’ll find more information about the bursary on the government Get Into Teaching site.
Schools Direct course
Value: Up to £25,000
A Schools Direct course is salaried, which means you could earn up to £25,000 while training. You’ll find more information about the Schools Direct courses on the Get Into Teaching site.
