Teacher training bursary

If you're a trainee teacher you could be entitled to a bursary

If you’re a trainee teacher you could be entitled to a bursary.

As a student on a PGDE course, you’ll be funded in the same way as an undergraduate.  This includes:

  • A non-means-tested student loan to cover your tuition fees
  • A means-tested student loan to help cover your living expenses

Bursary

Value: Up to £30,000

As well as the funding listed above, you may be eligible for a teacher training bursary of up to £30,000 (tax-free).  The availability of this bursary and its value is dependent on your degree classification and the subject you plan to teach in.

School Direct course

Value: Up to £25,000

A School Direct course is salaried, which means you could earn up to £25,000 while training.  You’ll find more information about the School Direct courses on the Get Into Teaching site.
