Find out about the Unite Foundation Scholarship
The Unite Foundation Scholarship is jointly offered by Liverpool John Moores University and the Unite Foundation with the intention of supporting students who are Care Leavers or those who are estranged from their family to access and succeed in higher education.
Applications are invited from applicants for 2020/2021 entry.
What could I receive as part of the scholarship?
Successful students will receive:
- Accommodation in a standard single study room in a Unite Students property, as allocated by the Liverpool John Moores University Accommodation Office. Accommodation costs will be covered for up to 52 weeks of each year if required
If successful, this will be awarded to you on an annual basis for a maximum three years of your undergraduate programme. Please note that this does not include Foundation and Placement years.

Am I eligible to apply?

Scholarship applicants must be either a care leaver or assessed as independent due to estrangement by their funding provider (e.g. Student Finance England). In addition, applicants must also meet all of the following criteria:
- Aged 25 or under on 1 September 2020 and
- Undertaking first and only course of undergraduate study and
- Currently studying at, or holding a firm choice offer from, Liverpool John Moores University and
- UK home fee status student and
- In receipt of, or applying for, student finance for day to day living costs (Maintenance Loan), reflecting care leaver/estranged student status
How can I apply?
The closing date for applications to be received at Liverpool John Moores University is 12pm on Friday Friday 15 May 2020.
You can apply by downloading and completing the application form and returning this to the University at the address below on or before the deadline of 12pm on 15 May 2020. You will also need to provide the University with supporting evidence (please refer to the guidance information for further details or contact Phil Bakstad to discuss).
Following submission of your application form and supporting evidence, all eligible candidates will be required to attend an informal interview (either in person or online). Interviews will take place on Thursday 28 May and we will make individual arrangements with you to enable you to attend the interview in person or online on that date.
Liverpool John Moores University will then make a recommendation to the Unite Foundation, who will make the final decision on the awards for this year.
