Postgraduate and mature students

Find the best place to live and study

As a new postgraduate or mature undergraduate student you have a great range of accommodation options available to you while studying at LJMU.

Each year the university sets aside a number of full flats for new postgraduate or mature undergraduate students in several of the halls offered to new students. Students who choose one of these flats will therefore not have to share a living space with new undergraduates who are coming to university directly from school or college. In this context ‘mature' means students who are at least 21 years old when they first enrol at the university.

All postgraduate students are given a longer tenancy of 50 or 51 weeks as a default and mature undergraduate students can also request this tenancy if they wish.

For the academic year 2024/25 rooms have been set aside for mature students in Marybone 1, Atlantic Point, Agnes Jones House and Albert Court. Bedrooms at Albert Court and Atlantic Point feature private en-suite bathrooms and are good value at £135 and £115 per week respectively. Parking is available at both sites at an additional cost.

In addition, there are self-contained studios available at The Arch, Grenville Street and Grand Central. These are the most expensive rooms on offer at up to £179 per week including all fuel bills, contents insurance and a Wi-Fi connection. You may need to purchase a Licence for any TV that is provided in the studio.

Important
Please email the Accommodation Office for advice if you are thinking about requesting a studio.

If you prefer not to share your accommodation with new undergraduate students and do not want to live in any of the options listed above you should contact Liverpool Student Homes, which is owned by the three universities in Liverpool and maintains official listings of good quality private houses and flats.
