JMSU - Your Students’ Union

Your ultimate Freshers' guide

Freshers’ is coming. We. Cannot. Wait. These two weeks are all about getting your bearings, diving in to student life and having an incredible time – simple as that.

Here are just a few of the things you can enjoy!

WHAT’S ON:

The Full Events Programme.

Mon 17 – Sun 30 Sept 2018

We are well connected with Liverpool – we know the best places to eat, drink, dance, shop, see & explore. Throughout the Freshers’ fortnight we’re bringing you a different event every single day, ranging from vintage fairs, to cocktail masterclasses, trips to IKEA, film screenings, themed quizzes, a Sunrise Festival, Ghetto Golf and much more. We’ll be releasing the full programme on 18th August, here

Freshers’ Fair.

10-5pm, Weds 26 Sept 2018 – Echo Arena

This is the pinnacle of your Freshers’ experience. Freshers’ Fair is our biggest event of the year, where we’ll welcome thousands of you lovely students down to the Echo Arena on the beautiful Albert Dock. Meet our 100+ student groups, say hello to your brand new SU and of course, get more freebies than you can physically carry. Free pizza guaranteed.

The Club Nights. Liverpool’s Official Freshers’ Week.

Sat 15 – Sat 22 Sept 2018.

If going out is your thing, you’re in for a treat. Liverpool is famous for its incredible nightlife – the atmosphere on a night out here is like nothing else. It’s vibrant, varied and buzzing with friendly locals and students alike. We’ve got a week of phenomenal club nights lined up for you to kick it all off, including an appearance from Basshunter and a very special guest yet to be announced… Wristbands are on sale now, get yours before prices go up.

The Closing Party. JMSU x Medication Party.

11pm-3am, Fri 28 Sept 2018 – Arts Club, Seel Street

Freshers’ is a whirlwind two weeks. You’ll make friendships and memories that will last a lifetime – trust us. We think it’s important to wrap it all up with something pretty spectacular, which is why we’ve teamed up with the renowned and iconic student dance night, Medication, to throw a huge party celebrating this very important milestone in your life (Freshers’ - completed.) More details to be announced on 18 August, here

Taster Sessions.

Thinking of joining a student group? All of our clubs and societies’ first sessions of the year are completely free – so if you have a chat with a few groups that take your fancy at Freshers’ Fair, or if you’ve browsed online and are interested in having a go, you can do that without having to make any commitments first. Sound.

Your Student Officers

One of the ways we make sure we’re student-led is by employing a team of Student Officers who sit at the very top of our organisation.

Each spring, the team are voted in by LJMU students in the Student Officer Elections.

Your Student Officers have all recently been LJMU students and their role is to lead campaigns that are relevant to you, direct all of our work, and ultimately represent you – so talk to them about whatever matters most to you.

Meet your team for the year.

They each look after a different aspect of student life, so it’s all covered.
