Advocacy services

Advocates and refugee community organisations can increase health awareness. An advocate might help asylum seeker and refugee access information he/she needs or go with him/her to meetings or interviews in a supportive role. He/she may want his/her advocate to write letters on he/her behalf, or speak for him/her in situations where he/she does not feel able to speak for him/herself. Local authorities fund advocacy services in their area. To find an advocacy service, contact your local council.

Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS)

The information provided on the NHS choice website state that “The Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) offers confidential advice, support and information on health-related matters. They provide a point of contact for patients, their families and their carers.” Contact the nearest PALS Office and enter your post.

NHS Complaints Advocacy is there to provide you with practical support, advice and information if you want to make a complaint about an NHS service you or someone you know has received.
