Taking the discussion to the wider community
We have been providing a platform for debate on topics of public interest since 1997 through the Roscoe Lecture series and we've recently embarked on a new series of talks through Liverpool LASER. We encourage the public to get involved in a range of other events that we host throughout the year including performances, research seminars, exhibitions, lectures, workshops and conferences. Be sure to keep your eye on our events listings, so you don't miss out.
Bringing key figures to Liverpool
Now the UK’s longest running and largest public lecture series, the Roscoe Lectures typically attract around 800 people per talk. Speakers include well-known figures from the arts, sport, the media, politics and academic as well as key local figures. The lecture series helps people to better understand the community in which they live and gain a sense of civic pride.

Leading the conversation on the arts and science
Liverpool John Moores University is one of only 27 Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous (LASER) hosts operating worldwide. Every LASER talk is unique to its own community. The events held by LJMU in Liverpool aim to bring together artists and scientists for informal presentations and conversations around topics related to art, science and technology.

LJMU's Roscoe Lecture Series is supported by generous donations from individuals who champion free speech and value informed public debate. If you enjoy attending the Lectures, you can show your support by making a donation and becoming a Friend of the Roscoe Lectures. Your donation will enable us to reward and encourage more young people through our Citizenship Awards while also extending public debate on key issues.
