You can access books and journals through the SCONUL Access Scheme at most of the university libraries in the UK and Ireland.
Can I use the SCONUL Access Scheme?
If you are a full-time undergraduate, you cannot borrow under the scheme. However, you should be able to use other libraries on a reference-only basis. All other categories of users should be able to borrow under the scheme.
Apply for membership
For further information and to apply for membership, please visit SCONUL Access and complete the online registration.
How do I access the other libraries?
If your application is approved you will receive an email, which you should print out and take (along with your LJMU card) to the library that you wish to use. The host library will issue you with a library card so that you can borrow or gain reference-access as appropriate.
Please check the website of the host library for any further instructions or information before visiting to gain access.
LJMU is a member of Libraries Together: the Liverpool Learning Partnership. This allows you reference access to all of the libraries in the partnership, such as:
- City of Liverpool Libraries
- City of Liverpool College
- Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts
- Liverpool Hope University
- Liverpool John Moores University
- University of Liverpool
LJMU students and academic staff undertaking research, who wish to access resources held only in the British Library, may apply for access for a British Library reader's pass.
