Abbie's story

Abbie Rooney studied for an undergraduate degree in English, Media and Cultural Studies. After a year out she decided that she wanted to work in Journalism and studied for a Masters in International News Journalism.

“LJMU was an obvious choice for me as the university has done so much for me in the past. Postgraduate study was probably a bigger step up from undergraduate study than I had expected. It is hard work but it is also far more rewarding. It feels so good to do your own research and then get good grades based on that independent work.

I have really enjoyed getting to know my tutors on a personal level and meeting so many international students has been amazing.

At LJMU staff are there to help you every step of the way - be that with exam preparation, mock interviews or writing your CV. Tutors encourage you to attend networking events organised by the university. They are also happy to put you in touch with their industry contacts for help and advice. I absolutely love it at LJMU and, if I could, I would study here forever.”
